Annual Music for Galway’s Mid-Winter Festival : 19th – 21st January 2018
The 2018 Midwinter Festival, based in Galway City, is entitled Beloved and will follow on from the Prodigy theme of last year and will focus on the music of composers in love. Music by the great Romantics Brahms, Wagner and Schumann (Robert and Clara) will feature, along with love letters by Beethoven, Schubert, Janáček, Britten and Schoenberg, all ardent expressions of love. This year’s Beloved festival will also feature an afternoon recital of popular love-inspired arias and duos from the world of opera as well as two talks by eminent musicologist Richard Wigmore and the screening of Peter Schamonis Spring Symphony.

Annual Coole Music Orchestra Festival : March 10th 2018
This festival is now in its 11th year and this year’s theme is A World of Music. The day long festival is being held in Gort, Co Galway and includes world music and dance workshops throughout the day and evening performances from local and international artists. Five orchestras involving 180 musicians of all ages from the West of Ireland will be joined by a top class line-up of young orchestral musicians, performers of world music and a host of colourful young dancers. Festival founder and artistic director Katharina Baker composes a new piece of music for each festival. For this year’s performance she has created a collage of Bollywood and Irish traditional sounds entitled The Bollywood Céilí which will also feature Indian and Irish dancers.
